Deep Ocean Explore Store (DOER) Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Q: What is DOER?
A: Deep Ocean Explore Store (DOER) is a dive shop that provides diving gear rentals, courses, and other services to enhance your diving experience. We specialize in drysuits and diving undersuits, offering top-notch equipment for rental and purchase.

Q: Where is DOER located?
A: For location and contact details, please visit our website or contact our customer service team for assistance.

Drysuit Rentals

Q: Do I need a certification to rent a drysuit?
A: Yes, all drysuit rentals require proof of a valid drysuit certification. You must present this certification before renting any drysuit.

Q: Do I need to schedule a fitting appointment for a drysuit rental?
A: Yes, if you are renting a drysuit from DOER for the first time, you must attend a fitting appointment. If you’ve rented the same specific suit from us before, a fitting is not required for future rentals.

Q: Can I wash the rental drysuit or undersuit?
A: No, DOER handles all cleaning of rental drysuits and undersuits. Renters should rinse the outside of the suit with fresh water after diving and remove all ocean water from the inside of the suit. If the drysuit gets flooded with sea water, the undersuit should be rinsed with water prior to return. Renters should not launder any undersuit as this could cause damage. Any damage resulting from improper care may incur a fee up to the full cost of the product.

Q: What is the cost of a drysuit if I damage it?
A: Damage fees can be up to the full cost of the drysuit, which ranges from $999.99 - $4,500. Please handle all rented equipment with care.

Drysuit Courses

Q: Do I need to schedule a fitting appointment before my drysuit course?
A: Yes, all drysuit course students must complete an in-store fitting appointment at least one week prior to the first in-water session. This ensures proper fit and safety during the course.

Q: What equipment is required for drysuit courses?
A: The required equipment for your drysuit course will be communicated by DOER staff, WRSTC, or the training agency. Students are responsible for collecting and bringing any required gear, whether rented or personally owned, to each session.

Q: Can DOER staff provide transportation to training sessions?
A: No, DOER staff cannot provide transportation to or from training sessions, classes, or dive sites. Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation.

General Rental Equipment

Q: What is your policy on rental gear returns?
A: All rental gear must be returned in the same condition it was rented. Any damage beyond normal wear and tear may result in repair or replacement fees up to the full cost of the equipment.

Q: What do I need to bring when renting gear?
A: You will need to bring a valid ID, any required certifications (such as drysuit certification for drysuit rentals), and a form of payment. If you're unsure of what's required, feel free to contact us for more information.

Training and Diving Events

Q: What is expected of me during training or diving events?
A: Students and divers are responsible for arriving punctually and prepared at the training or dive site. This includes bringing any required equipment and taking responsibility for all gear, whether rented or personally owned.

Q: Can I carpool with other divers to training sites?
A: Yes! While DOER staff cannot provide transportation, we encourage divers to carpool with each other to reduce environmental impact and make travel arrangements more efficient.

Q: What happens if I miss a training session?
A: Missing a scheduled session without prior notice may result in forfeiture of that session, and additional fees may apply for rescheduling. Please ensure you are prepared and arrive on time to avoid complications.

Cancellation and Rescheduling

Q: Can I cancel or reschedule my course?
A: Yes, you can cancel or reschedule your course, but cancellations or rescheduling requests must be made at least 48 hours in advance. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the course may be subject to a fee.

Q: What happens if I am late or unprepared for my course?
A: Being late or unprepared may lead to rescheduling fees or forfeiture of your course spot. It's important to arrive on time and with all the necessary equipment to ensure you get the most out of your training.

Product and Equipment Information

Q: Can the Venture Heat Diving Undersuit be used with a wetsuit?

Q: How do I care for the Venture Heat Diving Undersuit?
