Rescue Diver (PADI or SDI)
Rescue Diving is a more advanced certification for those divers looking to become Divemasters, Dive Leaders, Instructors, or just want to improve their safety in the water. The Rescue Diver course teaches divers to perform diver rescues and assist and administer the necessary first aid in the event of an emergency. Participants will learn skills such as how to perform self rescues, buddy rescues, recognize and calm potential panic divers, administer proper first aid to divers that have experienced dive related injuries, conduct effective search patterns and manage accident scenes.
At the Deep Ocean Explore Store you can become a certified Rescue Diver. This is a rigorous multi-day course in which a diver is tested in their technical skills and will gain the knowledge and abilities that one day may save the life of your fellow diver.

Who this course is for:

Any certified open water scuba diver who wishes to expand their diver knowledge and skill set

Any certified advanced adventure diver or advanced diver who would like to advance in dive training

Anyone interested in becoming a dive leader
Course prerequisites:

Minimum age 18, 15 with private instruction

Provide proof of current CPR, first aid and oxygen (O2) provider (where local law permits) certification*

Provide proof of Advanced Diver certification, or equivalent, or open water diver certification and 40 logged open water dives

Some of the in-water skills include:

On the surface, identify and assist a properly equipped skin or scuba diver simulating:

Breathing difficulties
-
Tiredness
-
Leg cramp
-
Early panic symptoms
-

Locate and bring to the surface a scuba diver simulating unconsciousness to the surface from approximately 6 meters/20 feet

Upon surfacing, transport the unconscious diver 50 meters/150 feet to shore or boat, simulating in-water rescue breathing

Upon reaching the shore or boat, with the assistance of one aide, remove the diver from the water

Rescue Diver minimum requirements:

Demonstrate mature and sound judgment concerning dive emergency planning and execution

Complete all open water requirements safely and efficiently

Satisfactorily complete the PADI Rescue Diver written examination online

Sign up and receive your online PADI code

Once you complete the online portion schedule the class, pool, or open water dives as required.

Course Costs:

$415 Tuition Fee - Dive Planning Session, and 1-2 days of open water diving.

Dive count is the minimum required amount of dives to successfully complete the course.

Not included are Rental Equipment and Trip Costs. Trip costs include transportation, lodging, boat fees, park fees, food and beverage, etc.

Booking & Payments
Classes must be paid in full prior to enrollment or participation. Digital training materials, once issued, are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Cancellations
General Cancellations:
- Up to 7 days before class start date: 50% of class fee can be refunded.
- Less than 48 hours before class start date: 25% of class fee can be refunded at staff discretion.
Rescheduling:
- Up to 7 days before class start date: Subject to a 50% tuition rescheduling fee.
- Less than 48 hours before class start date: Subject to a 75% tuition rescheduling fee at staff discretion.
Medical and Illness Policy
If you are unable to participate due to illness, including COVID-19 or other general health concerns, you may reschedule with a 50% rebooking fee. A medical waiver is required to reschedule without penalty. Failure to provide a completed and signed medical waiver before the start date of class will result in a 50% rebooking fee or loss of tuition.
Missed Classes
If you miss any scheduled class, we will work with you to arrange makeup sessions, subject to availability:
- Classroom/Zoom Session: $100/hour
- Pool Session: $100/hour
- Ocean Dives: $375/day (private 1-on-1)
